| Rabbits
have their own way
of talking
to you. It's called
body language, and the
more
you get to know us, the
more versed you will
become
in our language.
For
instance, when I
circle
around my mom's legs and
follow her everywhere,
it means either that I'm
hungry and want
to be fed,
I'm not hungry but I'd
really like another
treat,
or I need some attention.
Usually, it means, "Hey,
you. Get down here at
my
level and love me (scratch
my ears, rub my cheeks,
hug me and kiss me)."
Rabbits
can purr, sort of.
Did you know
that? When I
get up into
my mom's lap, lay
down, and she pets
me or scratches my
head, it really gets
my motor running.
I just kind
of mellow out and
turn into
a puddle of jello,
and my mom gets kind
of a body massage
on her legs because
I vibrate with total
and complete contentment. When
I stand up
on my hind legs
and look around or
sniff the air (and
I'm
not directly
in front of my mom,
which
means that
I'm begging
for a treat), it means
that something
interesting
is going on around me
and I want
to check it out.
My mom calls this
my
Miss Curiosity Stance.
If
my mom is brushing
me or scratching
my head and I start
licking her hand
or arm, it's ...
you know, like, the
highest compliment
from a rabbit because
it means that they
accept you into their
world, and they're
treating you like
an equal. It
means, "Thank you
for grooming me.
I'll
groom you back because
we're family, and
we take care of each
other." |
| If
I turn my back on
my mom
or anyone else, it means "Do
not disturb!"

"Excuse
me. Just who is
that other bunny sitting
on your bed
in my place? It's my place, not hers." |
